As the Ancients have recorded in their Annals, the Titans were the first
beings to walk upon New Home that were not one of the Five. Horribly
wounded by their violent encounter with the Five, many of the first
offspring of the Titans were stillborn or suffered disfigurements that
could be directly linked to the thaumaturgic energies cast about during the
Clash. Seeing these deformities as a sign of weakness, a score of these
infants were left on the mountainous ridges of Pastoria to die of exposure.
It is believed that Phrixus heard these newborns and was struck with an
overwhelming sense of responsibility, knowing his actions were a direct
cause of the infants' situation. Despite his interventions, all but a
handful of the infants perished, those that did survive possessed long,
sinewy limbs, leathery flesh with thick, dark body hair, and two eyes. It
has been hypothesized that this difference was what caused the Titans to
abandon these infants, for they lacked the Eye of Solus. Phrixus watched
over his children, teaching them to survive in the unforgiving wilderness.
The children survived into adulthood, and in turn had children of their
own. Several generations have passed, and the Giants have continued to
thrive within the mountains of Pastoria. Phrixus chose not to divulge to
his children who their real parents were, afraid that they would grow to
hate the Titans. Instead, he instilled in them a love for all things
living, so long as they remained respectful of those around them and their
environment.
Giants are a very gentle race, taught from earliest childhood to respect
all things living, to cherish the life which they have been given. The
Giants have taken these teachings to heart, so much so, that they try to
avoid contact with the smaller races. Fearing that their immense size,
limitless strength, and awkward movements could cause accidental harm to
those weaker and smaller than they, they are extremely cautious when they
do anything. Giants view the world differently, as if they looked through
the eyes of a child. They often struggle with complex tasks, or ones that
require advanced thought, yet they continually amaze people with their
intuitive grasp of the situation. Friendly and outgoing when engaged,
Giants are always willing to lend aid to those in need of their strength.
Those who think to harm a giant, or cause harm to those the Giant loves
however, had best beware. Slow to anger, there is little that can harm the
ten foot tall, 800 pound Giant significantly. There is nothing that can
harm one when enraged.
