As a result of the Clash, the Five were flung from the heavens to crash
upon New Home. Into the central island of the archipelago later known as
The Virtues plunged Tingel, landing where Heart's Haven would later
develop. Battered and bereft of companions, Tingel wandered The Virtues
as she regained her strength. As she travelled The Virtues, she observed
many of the native beasts caring for their young, and her thoughts drifted
to Lif, the Great Mother. Overcome with a sudden maternal instinct, Tingel
determined that she would create children of her own in emulation of Lif.
Summoning elements from the four disciplines: Earth, Air, Fire, Water,
Tingel moulded them in the general image of herself and her four siblings,
giving rise to the Human race. Under the watchful eye of Tingel, Humanity
flourished, becoming the most plentiful of the sentient races of The
Virtues. Borne of the four elements, and possessing an innate desire to
expand and explore, Humanity quickly spread to rest of New Home, readily
adapting to their new environments. Those that left The Virtues, sadly,
were no longer under the watchful eye of Tingel, and many were lost to the
siren call of evil. Tingel continues to be an active participant in the
ongoings of the Human race, but like a good mother, tries not to interfere
directly unless there is imminent danger to the survival of the race.
Humanity is distinct in the fact that the race lacks any distinction. With
no great strengths, nor glaring weaknesses, Humanity is the standard by
which all the other races of the Realms are judged. Humanity was the first
child created by one of the Five, and the remaining four quickly moved to
create beings of their own for fear that Tingel would gain favor with Lif.
The greatest attribute of Humanity is its ability to excel at virtually any
occupation. There is little that the race can not accomplish given the
time and resources. Their natural lifespans are short when compared to
many of the other sentient races of New Home, and this has driven the race
to attempt to cram every experience possible into their brief lives. This
inexhaustable drive has caused many of New Home's other races to look upon
Humanity with some nervousness. Humans come in a wide array of shapes,
sizes and coloration, making them one of the most diverse of the races,
able to survive and adapt to almost any environment.
