In the beginning there was no world. There was only the Darkness and the Great Silence.

Out of the Great Silence came the Whisper. The Whisper was the soft voice of the Great Mother Lif, calling forth her husband from the Darkness.

The First Father she named Solus and he brought gifts of five children for her. These Five shined as Stars within the Darkness.

The First Five were named Ananke, Belphegor, Phrixus, Tingel and Lila.

The Great Mother called forth Solus regularly. He was the Gift Bearer, always bringing more gifts of Children to please the Mother.

As the Children grew, their lights shone brighter and brighter, pushing back the Darkness. Once the air became noisy with Children, Solus found his way out of the Darkness without the Great Mother's Whisper.

The First Five did not welcome Solus without the Whisper. Frightened, the new Babies hid their Light within the Great Mother's Robe. Solus and the First Five clashed, ripping the Darkness to shreds.

Enraged at the havoc they were creating, Lif drew the Darkness around her and demanded for her Children to be still. No longer speaking in a Whisper, the Great Mother pronounced that it was time for the First Five to make a new home for themselves.

"The First Home," Lif said, "is a quiet, Dark place for us to rest and bring forth the New. If there is no Darkness, we cannot shine. When Solus is called forth, the Darkness fades, but only for a short time and this is good, because he brings more New. You, my First Five, are growing to be like your Father... too big for this place, too bright and too large to hide within my Robes.

"Be gone to your New Home and remember that I treated you with Kindness. That is how you must treat your First Young, because that is the Way."

And with a loud noise that sounded like the splitting of the Universe, the First Five were cast out of the Darkness to land on New Home, a world made of water with five floating land masses, one for each of the First Five.

Some of the Five were happy to be on an adventure. Some of the Five were angered and bitter and determined that the New Home, this tiny world, would be all their own. They refused to share.
