Here at Zynna we have some basic rules:
1. We are all here to have fun, try not to make the game any less fun for anybody else.
2. Do not swear or be vulgar on public lines. Racism and sexism will not be tolerated on _any_ lines. For this purpose, public lines includes use of the 'shout' command. If you feel the need to use profanity or make vulgar remarks, please use the "raw" line. Beadvised, however, that while you may be generally profane or vulgaron the raw line, you still may not be profane or vulgar _at_ anyone. Violators will lose all access to public lines until Law has a chance to deal with them. Any Lord can remove this access. Only Law can replace it. Don't pester anyone but Law about it.
3. Report any bugs you find. Bug abuse can mean arrest and/or ridding. Use the command. Just you've reported a bug does not mean that you can abuse it until we have time to fix itwithout penalty.
4. Immortals are not players, they are builders of the realms in which players dwell. They are not permitted to give help to players. Don't ask for any. They are also not allowed to change the course of the game. If you ask them to help with a quest, heal you, reset a room, give info about mud objects, or anything else besides idle chatter, they may, at their discretion, report your request to Law, and will not answer.
5. If you need assistance from an immortal (you are stuck in a buggy room or something) ask a Lord or higher. For a listing of those who you can ask, type 'help lords'. If one is not on, you're on your own. Please use the 'bug' command. Crashes and reboots are a part of life.
6. We reserve the right to remove any players with invalid email addresses. Law will make a request for a valid email address before the character is removed. Use the command to change your email address.
7. Players will be allowed to have multiple characters. If you wish to have
more than one player, exchanging money, items, or otherwise having multiple
characters interact will be considered abuse and will NOT be tolerated. neither
will abuse of our character creation policy. Character removal is not out of the
question in these instances. If a player has to be reminded of this policy too
often, LAW holds the right to make them pick one character only and that player
will then loose their privlege to play multiple characters on Zynna.
8. It should be noted that the number of offenses is counted by player, not character. If you get a warning for some infringement of the rules as one character, your other character will be held under the same status as having been warned.
9. We reserve the right to remove any players with offensive names without warning. Immortals and Legends should not have offensive titles. Offensive names includes players trying to impersonate other people.
10. Feeding players is illegal. Feeding is defined as helping a character kill a monster normally way beyond its means. This differs from partying in that feeding tends to be in a situation where the bigger character can more or less take the monster alone and is only killing the monster so that the character being fed can have all or part of a relatively huge monster. This definition is a guideline. An important factor is the intent of the players involved. Final determination will be made by Law on a case by case basis.
11. Stealing is legal because there are classes that have abilities to do so provided as a part of their package of skills. However, if Law receives enough complaints, it could be considered harassment. The best way to protect yourself from thieves is to use the bank.
12. Robomudding is defined has having an automated character. This is done by means of anything from simple triggers to complex scripts run through a programmable mud client (Tintin, Zmud, Pueblo, etc). While some of the features of these clients are permitted, characters should not be excessively automated. The bottom line is, this mud is meant to be played by players, not robots. Punishment from Law is directly proportional to the effect that the robomudding has on the game. DO NOT use triggers, timers, etc. to stay logged in when you must be away from the screen. If you disconmnect, rather than quit, you will retain your equipment until the next reboot.
13. These laws are publicly available here in the library. Upon character creation, players are directed to come and read them. Therefore, ignorance of the laws will not be accepted as an excuse. The laws may change at any time, but upon such a change players will be notified. That said, any action taken against you for violation of these rules are the consequence of the player. Badgering Law, Admin, or other immortals is not conducive to a reversal of decision or punishment.
14. If you feel you have been treated unfairly as a player, or have a problem with an immortal or another player, we have an Advocate who will listen to you. Mail Kharis with as many details as possible. A copy to Law would also be a good idea in case there may be an infringment of the rules. As noted in rule 13, badgering is not a good idea.
15. Some Law actions may be carried out by other Lords or Admins in the event that no Lord of Law is on. However, only Law will resolve these actions. Please be patient if this is the case.
The following is a guideline of consequences for violation of rules in this or any other book in the library:
- 1st offense: warning (unless the problem is very severe)
- 2nd offense: three days arrest
- 3rd offense: seven days arrest and site registered
- 4th offense: removal of character and site banishment
It should be noted that this hierarchy is only a general idea of what may happen. Law reserves the right to skip to any punishment depending on the severity of the infraction. If it takes four offenses before you are removed, consider yourself lucky. Troublemakers will not be put up with for long.
An arrested character cannot log in or be fingered, but their character still exists and can be restored. A ridded character can not be fingered because they no longer exist and can not be restored. Only Law will rid characters (exceptions only in the case of characters with offensive names).
Law will review all cases individually, no matter which rule has been violated.
All players are treated the same, no exceptions.
If you have any questions about any of these or any other rules set out in the library, feel free to mail Law about it.
